Top Ten Tuesday | Books for Travel Lovers

This is a weekly list meme hosted by the wonderful bloggers at The Broke and the Bookish.

Since I have a serious case of wanderlust at the moment, I decided to make my post on the theme of travelling. I made a list of my favorite YA books set outside of the United States to try to satisfy my craving for new places. Hopefully, the list can help you explore new places as well!

1. Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins

Paris, France. That is all I have to say, right? Anna and the French Kiss is the perfect love story set in the city of love.

2. Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor

The Daughter of Smoke and Bone series always has been and always will be one of my favorites. Part of it is the complex magic and the extremely dynamic characters, but the breath-taking setting in Prague and other places in the world truly sets the perfect backdrop for the story.

3. Just One Day by Gayle Forman

This novel is set throughout a European tour, but a majority of the novel is set in Paris, France. Just like Anna and the French Kiss, this swoon-worthy novel is enhanced by the romantic setting in Paris.

4. The Burning Sky by Sherry Thomas

I have been raving about The Elemental Trilogy lately. I recently read The Perilous Sea, and I adored it as much as the first one. The story is set in the past, in England. If you think that present day England is interesting, then you will adore historical England as well.

5. A Darker Shade of Magic by V. E. Schwab

Another one of my favorite fantasy novels, A Darker Shade of Magic excels in every aspect. The characters are amazing, the plot is perfect, and the setting in multiple different Londons is completely unique.

6. Ink by Amanda Sun

I had never read a novel set in Asia until I read Ink. This novel is set in the beauty of Japan. I loved the descriptions and detail that were put into writing the setting and the culture of Japan. The novel is centered around Japanese mythology, which is really emphasized by the setting.

7. Waterfall by Lisa T. Bergren

Waterfall is one of my favorite time travel novels, and it does not hurt that it is set in historical Italy. I have not read many books set in Italy, so Waterfall is certainly unique to me. It also helps that I am a time travel junkie.

8. Dark Mirror M. J. Putley

Since time travel seems to be the theme of this post, I had to add one more. Dark Mirror is another time travel novel set in historical England during the time of Napoleon. The novel delved into the era of Napoleon's empire and shows the terror and conflicts of the time unlike any book that I have ever read.

What is your favorite country to read about? What is your favorite YA book set outside of the US? Do you love to travel? If so, where was the last place you went?
